Karen Schuster is a 3rd degree blackbelt at Bob White’s Karate Studio (BWKS) in Costa Mesa, California. She started training at Mr. White’s about 25 years ago and prior to that, spent some time working on a variety of other styles such as Shaolin Kenpo, Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, and Isshin Ryu. Karen was a dancer for many years and wanted to try something different to stay in shape while studying to get her college degree. She found and fell in love with karate and self defense. She has competed in forms, sparring and team sparring in national and international tournaments.
Karen taught for many years at BWKS, worked for over 10 years as the coordinator of participant gifts for the Bob and Barbara White Invitational, and previously assisted Barbara White in her women’s
self-defense classes.
Karen currently lives in Franklin, Wisconsin, with her twin children and their rescue pup named Blue. She is the Director of Sales for CRS Temporary Housing and has been working with insurance companies for over 20 years to house families who have lost their home to natural disasters. While continuing to maintain what she has learned in her martial arts training, Karen also dances and practices yoga.
