Jeanne Capliez

Jeanne Capliez is a 1st degree black belt representing the American Kenpo Karate Moncheaux school in northern France.

Her karate journey first started at the age of nine when a classmate would bother her. Seeking self-defense capabilities, she discovered an enduring passion for the sport and a commitment to advancing through its ranks. Then, she discovered Kenpo through a demonstration and immediately knew it was what she wanted to do instead of traditional karate. Subsequently, the discipline has become a source of great satisfaction as she engages in regular practice, strives for higher ranks, and participates in competitive events. A noteworthy aspect of her journey is that she and her father achieved their black belts and continuing to train together.

The structured nature of Kenpo has proven invaluable in her academic pursuits, particularly during nursing studies. The systematic learning of forms and techniques has significantly enhanced her cognitive processes, serving as an effective means of stress alleviation amid the demands of university life. Additionally, this practice has fostered a unique skill set that she anticipates will be beneficial in her future role as a pediatric nurse. The insights gained through working with children in the context of Kenpo have afforded her increased patience and a more nuanced understanding of their developmental trajectories. Jeanne is in her final year of specialized studies in pediatrics and currently holds the title of graduate nurse.
