Dr. Ivan Valdivia is a clinical psychologist with over twenty years of experience as a hospital-based practitioner, as well as a dedicated martial artist.
Dr. Valdivia’s clinical experience spans inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, sleep and eating disorders, borderline personality disorder treatment, perinatal mental health, workplace injury, and physical rehabilitation psychology. He currently serves at The Ottawa Hospital – Rehabilitation Centre, helping patients adjust to illness and injury. His doctoral dissertation examined vulnerability factors contributing to the emergence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In addition, Dr. Valdivia has trained in multiple martial arts since the age of twelve. He earned a black sash in Wing Chun and he currently holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo under 9th Degree Master Jamie Seabrook. He currently leads the Ottawa-based North Star Kenpo in Québec, Canada, which is the only EPAK training group in the area.
