Alex Page is from Dublin, Ireland. She started karate when she was four years old in 2009. She is a 1st degree black belt who first started her training at Celbridge Kenpo Karate Academy with Master Eddie Downey. In 2012, her family opened a club in Newbridge County Kildare. Her uncle is Associate Professor Derek Newsome, a 5th degree black belt, her father is Mr. Keith Page, a 4th degree black belt, and her sister is Ms. Shauna Page, a 2nd degree black belt.
She has won gold medals at six international competitions – one in Ireland, one in Germany, one in Portugal, one in Holland, and two in California – and she feels lucky to have been able to compete in the Bob and Barbara White Youth Karate Invitational.
She also feels honored that her family’s club has such a close relationship with Master Eddie Downey and his family. Mr. Downey attends all of their belt rank gradings to make sure their standard is the highest it can be.
Her hopes for the future are to continue training, competing, and teaching, and to one day open her own club.
