Julissa Vasquez

My name is Julissa Vásquez Pinto, I am a 1st dan Sensei black belt in American Kenpo Karate. I began my journey in the world of martial arts 22 years ago, first in Shito-Ryu Karate when I was only 5 years old, due to adverse circumstances I could not continue with my Karate practices , after a few months the martial arts instructor Sacha Fernández arrived with the discipline of American Kenpo Karate, and influenced by my parents, forever grateful to them.

I began to practice it in 2004, I obtained my first promotion after 6 months of practice, to the rank of yellow tip white belt and from that moment I never stopped, until I obtained the rank of black belt on December 15, 2015 in Venezuela, endorsed by the international organization AVKK by the hand of sensei Sacha Fernandez at the time 4th dan black belt and master Jesús Escalante Patiño 10th dan black belt.

I started competing since I was little, in my beginnings, in a wide variety of national and international tournaments, which I can highlight the open international martial arts championship Batalla de Venezuela and Copa Apache held in Caracas, Venezuela, always obtaining the first places, being the category of empty-handed and weapon forms my favorites. Likewise, within the organization I had the pleasure of being number 1 twice in a row in the national ranking of competitors in 2011 and 2012. My last international competition was in Lima, Peru at the III World Cup Martial Arts Oman, in October 2023, becoming champion in the female black belt category.

I am currently part of the Kenpo Peru organization working on the staff of instructors teaching children and adolescents the discipline of Kenpo Karate, while training to improve my technique, style and execution every day.

I have been living in Lima, Peru since 2018 with my husband who is also a sensei in the organization, and we have 2 beautiful children who are also joining the practice of this wonderful martial art, American Kenpo Karate.
