My name is Aylin Castro, I am 17 years old and I live in a remote region in the south of Chile. My rank is 3rd brown belt.
I officially started practicing American Kenpo when I was 5 years old, but actually my father who is my main instructor gave me the first lessons when I was about 3 years old. I have participated and won several regional and national tournaments, I have been distinguished as a youth leader and notable athlete in my hometown.
We currently belong to the American Kenpo Federation, a few weeks ago we traveled with our Sifu José M. Morales, Sifu Hernan Uribe and other compatriots to the training Camp that was held in Austin, Texas. It was a beautiful experience to travel and meet so many people, the camaraderie was beautiful and the experience fascinating.
Sifu Morales had told me about Women in Kenpo Symposium, I find it a wonderful idea to unite all of us under a non-political, non-sexist group that promotes art for women. I still don’t know what future to follow or what career to study, but I am sure that Kenpo will accompany me forever, I want to progress and learn, and remain connected with all my sisters in the art.
