
Michelle Higgins is a 2nd degree black belt and trains under Shawn and Rebecca Knight at Knight Method Kenpo in Tucson, Arizona. Michelle is passionate about encouraging women and girls to explore Kenpo and discover their potential as martial artists. She has held many self-defense seminars in the community, including at the YWCA, Girls Scouts, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Michelle also holds a third degree black belt and is a certified instructor in Tang Soo Do. She has participated in many local and regional tournaments, including the Battle in Seattle and Battle of LA, and was the Grand Champion in women’s sparring in 2013. She has a husband and two adult children, all of whom are also black belts.
When Michelle is not training, she works at the University of Arizona as the Associate Director of Societal Impact where she works to translate the expertise of researchers into policies, practices, and programs that benefit society. Michelle is also working on her PhD in Educational Psychology, exploring mathematics doxa in secondary education.
