Elisa Jones is a 3rd Degree Brown belt currently training under Edward Downey in Ireland. She started her martial arts journey at just 5 years old with Go Kan Ryu, where her father was an instructor when she was living in England. After moving with her family to Southern California they found Bob White’s Karate Studio, where her lifelong passion for Kenpo Karate started. During her time with Bob White’s Karate Studio, she competed at Bob and Barbara White’s Invitational Youth Karate Tournament every year where she regularly won medals in forms and self-defense.
After three years of training with Bob White’s Kenpo Karate, she moved to Berlin, Germany, where her father, Paul Jones, started Jones Kenpo. They quickly built a strong following in Berlin where they have classes twice a week for kids, teens, and adults. Due to the number of students, Elisa regularly helped teach not only the kids, but also the adults. At Master White’s recommendation they joined the EKKA under Eddie Downey and Elisa worked her way up to Junior Brown/Black Belt.
In 2022 Elisa moved to Ireland to begin University and ended up just a few miles from Celbridge, so she was very happy to begin training directly with Eddie Downey. She recently represented Celbridge Academy at the National Ireland Karate Championships, where she won a bronze medal for Freestyle Weapon Forms with a Bo staff and a gold medal for Long Form 3, earning the title Irish Karate Champion of Katas. Elisa continues to train at Celbridge Academy and regularly assists teaching classes.
