Rachel Newlon
Rachel Newlon, a first-degree black belt in Mills American Kenpo Karate, is a practitioner and advocate of the art form.  She believes deeply in the power of discipline, education, creativity, and community. Through her work in Kenpo, she values the balance of technical skill, personal growth, leadership, and lifelong learning that martial arts can provide both inside and outside the dojo.

Professionally, Rachel serves as an English professor at Arapahoe Community College, where she teaches college composition, technical writing, creative writing, and world mythology. Her teaching philosophy centers on accessibility, student empowerment, and helping learners develop confidence in their own voices. She is also actively involved in mentorship, honors education, service-learning initiatives, and campus leadership programs.

Beyond the classroom and martial arts, Rachel enjoys traveling, crocheting, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her three sons and husband.
Through both Kenpo and education, Rachel strives to encourage others to challenge themselves, continue learning, and recognize their own potential.
