Jasmin Lima

Hello my name is Jasmine lima, I started Kenpo Karate over 6 years ago for an extra homeschool activity when I was around 13 . I was unsure of joining due to my limitations with cerebral palsy, and my limited range or motion.

I started out in a small homeschool class that was led by one of the kindest people I’ve met, Donna Bosworth. She helped me gain confidence and push myself to keep going, and she became a mentor figure to me.

When I struggled in a really bad time, I wasn’t sure if I was going to stay but she talked me into staying so that I could get my black belt. This was another scary thing for me. I started training with my sisters, but now I was facing this as just me. I’m glad I didn’t give up during some hard times, and my mentor told me that kenpo was family, and because of her faith in me and endless time and effort I have finally managed to do the impossible for someone like me and reach black belt status. I hope this inspires others like me to never be afraid to try as well

Currently I train at World Class Kenpo Karate in North Dartmouth, MA. Outside of Kenpo I go to the gym, I run 5ks and I am a bus monitor working with special needs kids on buses.
